I was updating my scores database (obviously), using this signed-off scorecard as my reference.
I finished putting in my scores for Rutgers, and cross-referenced back with the sheet, but I was 0.05 off. Not usually a big deal - I'm hand coding them and make errors, that's why I check.
But it's not me, right? The vault score for Rutgers are off?
Looking at the original scoring page (and the results page on RTN), it looks like they have recorded a score for Elliot Goldsmith (with a score that would explain the discrepancy if we took the top five scores of the seven recorded on that page). It doesn't appear as though Elliot vaulted, even in exhibition (according to the CGN liveblog and the Rutgers twitter account).
Anyway, I'm sure it was only a data entry error or oversight -- maybe a placeholder score to generate the tables that they forgot to remove (I've seen placeholders on Virtius and Sidearm, but never on StatBroadcast, but StatBroadcast keeps you in waiting room before their events start).
In any case, a good rule of thumb is to check the scores, yours and those of your opponent(s), before you sign off on giving away free points.
Mostly I'm just wondering how the back end for these systems work. It looks like RTN, ScoreKeeper and StatBroadcast are all being fed from the same data source, and I'm curious to know what the source of truth is, who and how it's operated and can I have a peek and poke around at the admin-side? Also can I get in on being fed that data directly so I don't have to hand code my scores (this is only a half joke)?
Interestingly, while I was searching for scoresheets from Gustavus/Eau-Claire in week 2 (because that's the only place I can typically get the judges' information), and Gustavus had their scoresheet filed as an Google Sheet, which made me wonder if the person/people entering in scores are just doing it in a Google Sheet and then Sidearm is drawing its info from there? I assume there are hidden sheets with score breakdowns etc?
This is a very niche request, but grateful for any insider info from this community!
