It is more than heartbreaking to hear that the Talladega program was cut after they had already signed athletes for the upcoming year, and the admin announced it so late that many on the team had already registered for classes, secured housing, etc. The parents and athletes had a meeting late this week with admin to ask what they plan to do for the mental health of the athletes, if they will be helping them train while they go through alternate recruiting, if they'll be honoring the scholarships (the list of inquiries to the administration is on the Dega parents' IG). I'm unless on if there's any publicly shared outcome yet.

I know the parents and the Isla Foundation have started a fundraiser, but they honestly shouldn't have to. I'm really hopeful they will be able to raise the $500k they need by their 07/30 deadline, but it needs more eyes on it, so I've posted the link here: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/isla-foundation-inc/save-our-program-dega-strong

If you know people who can get the word out (especially to big donors) please share this with them! I do not have any affiliation to Talladega whatsoever; I'm just a gymnerd who thinks the school admin did the athletes and staff dirty and I want to see the athletes get the funding and support they deserve.
