This is my first time playing fantasy and I got 145th out of 51, which first, I'm not sure how that worked. I think I need help understanding how to play fantasy. I chose two gymnasts that weren't even at classics but were listed. I also feel like I chose Juniors versus seniors unknowingly.

Can someone explain how to play fantasy better?

Katy

Hey Katy

I believe the site only lists the first 50 by name and then everyone else is listed as 51+, and then you can see your own actual ranking.

Make sure you're choosing gymnasts that are listed as competing at the event. Keep an eye out for the USA gymnastics/competition socials for announcements - they usually release a list of participants ahead of the comp. I was lucky enough to see it for Classic - I think it was around a week or so before the day of the comp when they announced, and that's when I started forming my team. The athletes listed on fantasizr are based on who has been competing throughout the season I think, but not whittled down to who is actually going to be competing, so staying updated is key. I also don't think Gymcastic lists juniors for the senior competition.

Good luck for Nationals in two weeks! There should be a list out before then <3

Hi. Let's see if I can help make things a little clearer. First, the fantasy website only shows the top 50 people, followed by you and your place if you are not in the top 50. In this case, it sounds like you are in 145th place. If you were in the top 50, then it would only show those places, and there would be a star next to your name to help you see where you are in the placing.

Second, never fear, you did not draft any juniors. The available athletes were all seniors that were registered to be at Classic when the game was set up. Some of those seniors either withdrew after the fact (like Tiana Sumanasekra) or only competed certain events (like Jayla Hang only doing bars and beam). I feel your pain, I had quite a few zeroes as well due to people not competing events (yes, Jayla, I'm looking at your choice not to do vault as one of them).

I hope this helps a little. Hopefully all of the people we pick compete what we put them on next time!

Kelly

@kelly-grosskreutz thank you!! I picked two athletes not competing. Newbie fantasy over here. Hopefully I can be at least second to last this time.
