What an amazing evening. So excited for the team… but sad for those who didn’t make it.

I think the rules as written actually hurt the team. As much as I like Nedoroscik, I hate the way he ended up on the highest scoring team by taking stuff out so he could hit. I think Khoi’s falls were an anomalies and I just pray this doesn’t come back to bite the men’s team.

1) Would there be any penalty for Brody at the Olympics for wearing a brace?

2) In the spirit of equity between MAG and WAG, I, a proud couch viewer with no experience in gymnastics beyond a year of recreational classes at WOGA in ye olden days of only Plano WOGA at the tender (and already hamstring-flexibility-challenged) age of 11ish, propose the following:

a) axe rings as an event—it’s mostly a strength and endurance challenge and not particularly artistic (although the standard of “not particularly artistic” would likely affect vault and maybe pommel, they are more dynamic, i.e., not primarily strength+endurance tests)

b) make MAG FX requirements more similar to WAG requirements, add music, artistry requirements, etc.

c) either axe p-bars for men (p-bars seems, to me, an event that smooshes together pommel and high bar, and we already have pommel and high bar, so why have this in-between event; maybe add hold reqs to high bar?) or add p-bars for women.

Is this a hot take? Idk. It gets us an equal number of events for MAG and WAG, gets us closer on equalizing what artistic gymnastics is for men and women, and reduces the endurance chaos of MAG.
