At the 2010 men\’s NCAAs, the ring broke. Like the actual ring snapped in half DURING a routine, and they took forever to replace it, and then once they did, they tried to do it quickly and the rings didn\’t match so 5 of the next 6 guys to go flew off. Then they redid it AGAIN, this time taking the tower down. You can ask Alex Naddour about it. He was one of the guys who went on the bad rings. They let guys who fell go again after the meet, but by that time it was midnight and everyone was exhausted.
And there was also a 2000 international meet in the US where a pommel broke in a gymnast\’s hand.
Women complain all the time that the men \”ruin\” the floor. They\’re much heavier and do much bigger tumbling than the girls.
